The negative effects of overpopulation are quite severe. You may wonder: What even is overpopulation? How could that affect 7 billion people? Overpopulation is where our own population gets so out of control that many problems open up, and they are terribly hard to spread around and fix.
The first one is that natural resources are depleted faster. Our planet can produce only a limited amount of water and food. Therefore, overpopulation causes environmental damage such as deforestation, pollution, etc.Similarly, environmental degradation is caused by the overuse of resources such as coal, oil, natural gas, etc. As a result, the quality of the air also gets affected in this manner. In developing countries, overpopulation puts a strain on resources. Thus, it gives rise to conflicts and tensions. It also causes more diseases that are harder to fight. Next, we have the problem of unemployment.
It is also increasing because of overpopulation. There are more people than job opportunities. As a result, unemployment leads to crimes like theft and more. There are also pandemics and epidemics due to overpopulation. This is because overcrowded and unsanitary living conditions lead to infectious diseases. Another consequence is malnutrition and starvation. When resources are scarce, these diseases are likely to increase. Most importantly, we have a shortage of water, which makes it difficult for people to access clean water. Life expectancy is also decreasing due to population growth, especially in less developed countries. Climate change is also accelerating as countries continue to expand their industrial capacity. As a result, they are emitting industrial waste that is driving up global temperatures. The situation will continue to worsen unless something is done about it immediately.
My main recommendation would be to start having protests that are actually peaceful and make a clear message. I think protests are misunderstood because some of them have been done terribly. As a whole planet, if people are aware of how serious this issue is, I don’t think it will be taken so lightly. We should be adding a lesson about life in our school programs about adulthood, overpopulation, and all the problems it may cause because it is a huge matter and people should take it more seriously, and education would be one of the most easy and clever ways to do so, in my opinion.
However , if this continues like this, I don’t think people should expect to have any grand families or even great grandchildren. Our planet’s state is a mess, and it needs to be taken care of together, and we need to listen to people’s recommendations to do so.
